Representative ITA Accomplishments
- Associates have received multiple energy conservation awards from American Chemistry Council.
- Participated in the South Carolina Environmental & Business Roundtable sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Alliance to Save Energy.
- South Carolina Energy office “certified”.
- Inspected and conducted psychrometric testing of the HVAC system in a large office complex. ITA identified $30,000 potential annual savings resulting from simple changes to the enthalpy control system and the outside air dampers.
- ITA identified mismatch between client’s time-of-day operational strategy for a large electric hot water boiler and the client’s electric rate structure. ITA developed a new operational strategy for the boiler that resulted in $28,000 potential annual savings at zero cost to client.
- In a large industrial facility, ITA matched an existing 85,000 pound per hour steam blow-off in one area with a potential decrease in steam production (and resulting fuel savings) in another area. The improvement could be made using existing piping and valves. Minor control system programming was required.
- While assisting a client with performance audit of 48,000 GPM cooling tower and auxiliary equipment, ITA identified 12,000 GPM water distribution pump in need of overhaul. ITA calculated that the inefficiency of the one worn unit cost the client $23,000 per year.
